I’m pretty sure most people would consider food to be all the usual things we buy at our local grocery store such as your typical meats, fruits, vegetables, grains and the like. But what I have come to realise and feel so much more is how our whole body acts like a giant receptor for the energy that comes into it through all of our senses, not merely via the mouth into our stomachs. And by ‘all our senses’ I am including our most very important ‘sixth sense’ – you know, the one that tells you someone is feeling depressed before they even utter a word to confirm it, or the one that smells something ‘fishy’ when a lawmaker is making a promise, but you get the sense that he is not being genuine.
This antenna of truth we colloquially refer to as the ‘sixth sense’ could actually be considered to be our most important, as the energy that enters it provides us the feedback that we then feel in the form of various sensations, telling us if they jive or not with what we know to be true. A still and more settled body therefore provides us with a more sensitive ‘receptor’ to distinguish whether or not an outside energy disturbs it or not, and this is more difficult to fool than our five other main bodily senses of sight, hearing, smell, touch and taste. Anyone can say or sing something that may be appealing to the ear for another person, but that doesn’t mean that what they are delivering is truthful or beneficial for our bodies.
And this leads to the next aspect of this sharing, which is that there have been many times when, after having a challenging or stressful day at work, I used to find myself listening to music that I had not heard for years – music which interestingly matched the melancholy mood I was in, or evoked a feeling of being ‘taken away’ in an attempt to escape from something that was emotionally coming up for me to deal with via the events of the day, but which I was avoiding by listening to that type of music. The vibration of the music was therefore synonymous with ‘eating’ any other type of food, as it was going into my body and having a direct effect on the quality of my consciousness and state of being.
When we consider how the human body is comprised of approximately 75% water, and that researchers such as Dr Masaru Emoto have already proven that water can hold the vibration of consciousness in the form of various patterns of ice crystals based on the mental and emotional state of being of the people holding the water (1), it comes as no surprise that sound in all its forms (through speech, music, industry, nature sounds, etc.) has a tremendous effect on us in many ways.
Emoto’s work has even been further validated in that water holds energetic memories by experiments done at the Aerospace Institute of the University of Stuttgart. At this research centre they took microscopic images of water droplets placed by various people and amazingly each person’s droplets displayed a unique energetic pattern that was different from the others’, even though they were pulled from the same source of water! When different flowers were placed in the water and microscopically imaged afterwards, each flower left its unique pattern in the water droplets, even after the flower was removed, and these patterns were consistently displayed in all the samples from that flower (2). The implications of this research are quite staggering as it is showing us how our state of consciousness, in fact our every thought, creates an energetic imprint that directly affects our world around us, and especially our own physiology.
One could conclude from this that it is indeed possible that we ingest these thoughts and words spoken from others. Along with their state of being and vibration, they travel on into our bodies when we interact with each other. Anyone who has been on the receiving end of an angry outburst or emotional tirade could attest to this reaction inside of them.
I’m sure most people can relate to how they feel in their bodies after watching some grotesque, bloody and violent horror film compared to watching something like a BBC nature documentary on the Amazonian rainforest. But what we don’t always take into account is that these visual stimuli are just as much a form of nourishment (or not, in the case of the horror film) as eating a fresh homemade salad. When we bombard our eyes with visual stimulation in the form of violence and disregard for the human body, one can’t help but understand how these things become accepted as social norms, as if to say “Well, that’s just the way it is in the world.” Although these things are indeed unfortunately prevalent, it is most certainly not ‘normal’. It’s not just the violence that can have a lasting effect either. I know that when I have caught myself mentally checking out on YouTube videos under the guise of ‘doing research’, it has left me feeling disconnected from my body, as if I had really neglected it. It also affects our body posture while we are zoning out on those things, which leads to a contraction in us that lets in an energy that sometimes does not feel like it belongs (hence the zombie-like state many people are seen in while watching TV for long periods of time).
Moving on to our olfactory senses, I can definitely attest to how yucky I have felt in the past after not wearing proper respiratory protection while using toxic chemicals at work, and also how calming the smell of lavender flowers are, or how the aroma of an Indian curry dish calls me into the kitchen. All these smells have a direct effect on our state of mind and how we feel in general. This is the basis of modalities like aromatherapy, using essential oils as a form of healing. Like the difference between a tender caress of one’s fingers through their partner’s hair compared to a harsh slap on the back between mates, the quality of these different movements can also have profoundly different results on our bodies, just as those of various scents. In fact, moving our body in a gentle and rhythmic way, focusing on touching and moving objects in this manner, can act like the best medicine for our body, cascading it in this gentleness as opposed to the hardness that can enter it via the manipulation of things with harshness.
If we consider all these sensory forms of ‘intake’, and hold the view of our whole body as a unified, delicate instrument that receives energy in all its forms, it really can change the way we approach our day and inspire us to only expose it to a quality that will enable it to stay settled, still, and open to expressing and receiving more love in our lives.
So perhaps it would be true to say that ‘food for thought’ could just as easily be converted into ‘thought for food’, as all the energies that our six senses receive can change our thoughts in a way that either supports us or takes us further away from our true harmonious and loving way of being. Those deviating thoughts can then continue this downward cycle by encouraging us to ‘eat’ things, via food and our other senses, that further numb or de-sensitise us in an attempt to not feel how we have been disconnected from ourselves or to avoid feeling the pain of a past emotional hurt. It all comes down to a choice; to feed ourselves with sensory inputs and experiences that either dull and mask who we truly are, or inspire us to express from our true essence, claiming our Divine origins.

How many of us have done this when we have broken up from a relationship? Used melancholy music which actually makes the situation worse, where we can wallow in self pity.
I love the integrity we are offered in understanding that our every intention behind each movement and word spoken have an effect on another person or people.
I understand what you are saying Michael that a still and settled body provides us with more sensitivity to feel if an energy is disturbing to us or not.
There was a time when I was so desensitized that I was numb from the neck down it seemed. Now I can feel how sensitive I have become and with it there is more awareness of what is going on around me.
I love the practical examples you have shared Michael and the fact that we are all experiencing these everyday. Everything is energy and it is clear from this discussion that the opportunity is there ‘now’ to reflect and make conscious choices in our lives that support our health and wellbeing. There is so much more going on as we move, think and breathe each day and the moment we acknowledge this as a truth is the moment we realise we are responsible for all that is happening in our lives.
Strange how we choose to ignore our sixth sense when it’s the one that we can’t escape from. I suppose you could say it is because it is not part of our physical senses so perhaps we have lost our awareness to it. Some may call it a ‘gut feeling’ or an ‘inner knowing’ and for me it is about tuning into the sensitivity of my body and beginning to accept what I feel rather than allow the busyness of my head to dull down the sensitivity of my body.
Great article Michael, loving it. Ingesting thoughts and words from others sounds pretty gross but that’s the way it is in the world, we can’t escape it, yet we try everything within our power to do so. It shows how responsible we need to be so as to not harm ourselves or another with our thoughts and words. Maybe we haven’t quite got the hang of it yet, but humanity is beginning to wake up to reality and realise that everything is energy, EVERYTHIHG… we’re all connected and everything we do, say or think affects everything around us, right up to the stars and back. Gosh, typing this makes me feel the enormity of it.
We are truly AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING, if only we stopped long enough to appreciate it.
The diet of thoughts we tolerate, is much more key than we realise. Rather than aspiring to improve our recollection abilities we should study why and how we receive the quality of thoughts we do. How can you go from one moment feeling joyful to the next considering suicide? Our awareness of energy and how this plays out in life is a huge unexplored area that we need to reacquaint ourselves with urgently.
Agreed, Joseph there is most definately a sense of urgency yet many of us still bury our heads in the sand and ‘think’ we’re safe and disaster is not going to happen to ME. Yet now with what’s going on the world with the pandemic, there’s nowhere to go anymore except deepen our awareness and that can only come from connecting to the inner being and stop trying to distract ourselves and resist what is inevitable – returning home.
Joseph, I agree with you
“Rather than aspiring to improve our recollection abilities we should study why and how we receive the quality of thoughts we do”.
Our thoughts can feel as though they come from a cesspit. I say that because I now realise they are not our thoughts at all, but are a stream of consciousness constantly passing through us depending on the energy we are aligned to affects the type of thoughts we receive. This is one of the biggest lies we have fallen for and now accept that we think, that we make decisions, we don’t.
What you are sharing here Michael is incredibly important because how many of us discern the energy of music and how it affects our bodies? What we think is music to our ears can actually be poisoning us as it can alter the way we move which has an influence on how we are with ourselves and all others.
I believe Mary, that we do know the difference, yet we choose to ignore it. For myself, I used to love the emotionality of music and allowed it to change my movements and indeed my thought processes. As we all become more aware I am sure more discernment will take place but first we have to let go of the need for this kind of music by dealing with our hurts.
What you are saying Sandra makes sense to me, that it is possible we have a need for a certain type of music. I am learning how needy we can be as human- beings and because of this overarching need we can behave in ways that are detrimental to the well being of our bodies.
Discerning about the energetic quality of everything that may come in or out of us, is a great exercise that allows us to responsibly and knowingly choose
A motor bike roared past me this morning whilst I was out walking and I could feel the effect of it deep within my rather tired body. At work I have a building site close by and the drivers blast their horns to communicate with each other, again I can feel this deep within my body. Earlier in the day I noticed the tiniest most delicate silvery blue moth on the floor and I could feel how my eyes loved looking at it. We are receiving through our senses as well as energetically and there is nothing that doesn’t get registered by the amazing intellect of our bodies.
Wow, Alexis reading your words ‘we are receiving through our senses as well as energetically…’ the penny has dropped. I always wondered what was meant by ‘our eyes don’t look, they receive’ so now I will put into practice how my body feels when I ‘look’ at something.
Alexis I love what you are saying because so often my attention is drawn to something and I say to my friend look at that. And they marvel that I could see something they hadn’t and yet my eyes are becoming quite dim. I don’t see as such I sense with my whole body that something is there to be acknowledged. I love these moments that call me to feel that there is something grander taking place in the communication of what is being shown to me.
Woah, what an incredible sharing, Michael. That is so true how we often only think if food/drinks as what we ingest into our digestive system while in fact we live in a sea of energy and substances (also essentially energy) that constantly come into contact with us every single moment of everyday! The fact that water makes up most of our body as a substance and that water holds energetic memories (I think they’ve also done experiment to look at the shape of ice and snow flakes under similar circumstances) are enough to make us think about not only where the water we drink come from, where the moisture in the air we’re breathing in has been to, and how the physiology of out body, after all these years of accumulation is actually going! This also reminds me of the fact that every single particle that makes up our bodies is a part of the universe, was there at the beginning of it all, been travelling through lifetimes and all around this planet and are with us temporarily before continuing their endless journeys of cycles. At that level, the imprint and energy and ‘memories’ each particle holds contributes to the existence and condition of the object or being it’ll be a part of, carrying all of the experiences it’s been through. And at a macroscopic level, all these particles contribute the unfolding to this entire planet and all the human beings and creatures on it, as well as the play out of the weather, oceans, mountains, clouds, forests, and so on. Once again we’re humbly reminded of the grandeur we’re all a part of and also the utmost responsibility to reignite and maintain the purity in all of us, for anything we do, say or think shall influence the vibration of the particle in our bodies and our surroundings, so on and so forth. It’s all so incredible and humbling.
Thank you Long for this beautiful reminder

We get so caught up in the ‘doing’ of life that we do not take time to consider our particles are also the same particles as the universe so how can we be separate from one another if we are all made up of particles of the universe?
We have purposefully made life about what we see on the surface so that we can avoid going deeper into what’s going on. We choose to be bamboozled by what we see and what we hear because if we were to admit to the true energetic origin of anything and everything then we’d have to admit that not only have we stuffed up big time but that the way we are choosing to be in the world won’t ever work. So here we are producing things that distract us more and more whilst all the while we’re aching for truth and change.
… so we must ask ourselves what will happen if we continue to stuff up. Either we wake up to our true nature or something will come along to wake us up, and that may not be so pleasant. Pleasant no, evolutionary yes, even though we may not accept it, choosing instead to continue to distract ourselves, ultimately the world cannot sustain this way of living. I believe humanity deep down knows this, we just want to hold on doggedly to our comfort and security, when the reality is there is no such thing as security and comfort is just avoidance of truth.
Sometimes I wonder if our greatest impairment in life is the belief that because we use a different word to define an object or person, that this clinically means there’s a real and definite separation. For science and life is constantly showing us that life is a sea of energy and there’s no barriers that can be erected to stop its flow. The greatest thing we can do is read the current and be aware of this fact.
I am coming to feel from my body that we are spun from the same delicate intelligence that makes buttercups and butterflies but that we have disconnected so dramatically from our original nature that we are able to imbibe the harshest of energies in an endless array of forms that we no longer register that we’re doing it. However what I am finding (thank God) is that it is reversible, I can feel myself returning to the original delicate nature of us all.
And when one returns, we all return. Like a wave, there is no getting out of it, it just depends whether you choose to ride the crest of the wave or dive deep under it to delay the return to our ‘original delicate nature’.
Michael it’s interesting what you share about music ‘the vibration of the music was therefore synonymous with ‘eating’ ‘, the type of music that I used to listen to was dance party music and I listened to it for the specific purpose of revving myself up, in exactly the same way as a tonne of sugar does. I would play particular bits of songs repeatedly and they were always the bits that built into an excited crescendo, sending my nervous system into overdrive. In much the same way that people are addicted to sugar I was addicted to the buzz of dance party music.
Reading this blog using the sense of sight and typing a comment using the sense of touch brings home to me a responsibility to feel the energy I am living in.
Yes, this IS a big responsibilty Mary, even typing these words will be felt across the globe not to mention the recipient. This may be staggering for our minds to understand, but our bodies surely do feel it. Getting our minds out of the way is key. But where do we put our mind – in union with our body and our movements using conscious presence, and like you say, being aware of the energy we are living in.
It’s really interesting what you are saying Michael as this makes sense to me. I recently met up with a colleague I haven’t seen for quite a while and I gave them a hug in greeting and it was as though I was hugging a cold brick wall they were in such protection against the world. So it is easier to understand how we can behave so callously towards each other when we have shut down our innate sensitivity. I feel this is the worst thing we can do as it stops us from reading life when we stop reading life we can then be in the reaction to life, when we react to life up goes our walls of protection.
What a blessing for your colleague, having a gentle hug from you will begin to break down the wall of protection, or at least give him the reflection of how life can be if we open up and begin the trust the world and let people in.
Just indeed much ‘food for thought’ from your writings. It is great to be reminded how much we are affected by our surroundings, and the way we live and breathe. After all as we are mainly made up of water what shape/form does the water take on that is circulating throughout our body! Lots to ponder on.
